Thermography

What is Thermography?

Thermography is a form of infrared imaging using cameras that "read" the entire infrared range of the electromagnetic spectrum and produce images.

Medical thermography uses infrared technology to provide an image of the body’s physiological responses. It does so without the use of radiation, contact or other invasive means. There are no risks or side effects to the test.

A state-of-the-art F.D.A. approved thermal imaging camera transmits data of the body’s skin temperature to a computer which converts these patterns to images, stored as color and black and white pictures.

By detecting thermal asymmetry from one side of the body to the other or by noting alterations of the vascular patterns, the physician now has more information with which to make a diagnosis of breast, neurological and other conditions.

Conditions Diagnosed by Thermography

While the full scope of uses for thermal imaging has not been established, there is currently data to support its benefit in the following medical conditions:

  • Diseases of the Breast
  • Chronic Pain Syndromes
  • Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy
  • Thoracic Outlet Syndrome
  • Peripheral Neuropathies
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Peripheral Vascular Disease
  • Thyroid Dysfunction
  • Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction
  • Dental inflammation or infections
  • Sinus related disorders

Why Thermography?

Thermal imaging has been an available medical test for more than 50 years, and its non-medical applications pre-date that by a decade. Despite controversy in its early days, this tool has withstood the test of time and has become the mainstay in many diagnostic endeavors. With the increasing technological advances of thermal imaging cameras and the newest and best software available, a better question would be WHY NOT THERMOGRAPHY!

This is a totally safe, non-radiologic, non-invasive, painless test with absolutely no adverse effects and NO contraindications. It can be used at any age and provides a diagnostic tool far superior to others in early stages of some diseases.

It is well documented in all fields of medicine that the earliest detection leads to the best outcome. In this highly technological era where patients are becoming better informed and more pro-active with regard to their health, thermography offers a safe means of early detection.
